Lash extensions will last until the natural lash that it is attached to sheds. This process is nonstop, with people shedding anywhere from 1 to 5 eyelashes each day. To maintain the full appearance of freshly applied extensions it is recommended to get a fill every 2 to 4 weeks (time depending on your Individual lash cycle).

The glue used at WinkOttawa complies with Health Canada regulations and is registered with Health Canada. It is possible for someone to have an adverse reaction to their extensions and in many cases, this is the result of an allergy to the eyelash glue, and specifically to an ingredient called cyanoacrylate.
Cyanoacrylate is an ingredient with many uses in industrial, medical, and aesthetic fields and it is used in all eyelash glue, even those formulated to be hypoallergenic and sensitive for eyes. The reason it is used in all eyelash glue is because it provides the glue with its adhesive quality. Without cyanoacrylate, the extensions wouldn’t actually stick to your eyelashes. Cyanoacrylate is very adhesive and it solidifies fast, which is great for eyelash extensions.
For most clients, there is no problem with this ingredient. As long as the extensions are applied very carefully and the glue never gets in their eye, they will have no reaction to cyanoacrylate whatsoever. However, in rare cases clients have or develop an allergy to this ingredient. Sometimes they may have allergic symptoms the first time they get eyelash extensions, but in other cases they will develop the allergy over time and have to stop getting eyelash extensions. If you are allergic to cyanoacrylate, you will experience redness, severe itching, bumps, or swelling along the lash line. These reactions can happen anywhere from immediately during the application up to 72 hours after receiving a treatment. Unfortunately, for this small percentage of clients, eyelash extensions are simply not a good option.
If you have gotten lash extensions and believe you are having a reaction NOTIFY YOUR LASH TECHNICIAN IMMEDIATELY. The reaction will only be able to subside once the lashes and glue are removed. usiness here.
1. Do not expose your new eyelash extensions to water for the first 48 hours after application

4. Your first night, while the glue is still curing, make sure you do not sleep with your lashes pushed into the pillow. It is best to prop your head so your eyelashes are left untouched by any pressure
5. Keep the area around the lashes free of oil based products such as moisturizers, eye creams, and makeup removers. Products containing oils, glycols, and carbonates will break down the glue's bond, causing caking of the glue and resulting in loss of the extensions.
6. Rubbing, pulling, picking, or over-cleaning the lashes will cause premature loss. Do not attempt to remove any extensions yourself, please call a lash technician if you would like them removed properly.
7. Do not use any mascara on your lash extensions. Mascara will dissolve the adhesive and shorten the lifespan of your lashes and cleaning the lashes to be completely free from the mascara residue is difficult and can lead to infections.
8. Due to the natural shedding of eyelashes on a regular basis, appropriately timed fills are required to keep your lash extensions looking their best. To maintain the full, healthy appearance of freshly installed lash extensions it is recommended getting a fill every 2 to 3 weeks (time depending on your natural lash cycle). If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will grow out too much and you will require a full application. Other factors such as exposure to steam, humidity or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. Fills can take anywhere from 25 - 35 minutes, depending on how long you wait between appointments. During your fill appointment, I will remove make-up residue, remove grown-out extensions, prime your lashes and apply extensions to new lash growth. A good indicator of when to be in for a fill is when your extensions are 50% gone.
