1. Remove all makeup and clean your lashes well with a mild, oil free cleanser
2. Please arrive without mascara. This allows your entire appointment to be used for your new lashes
3. Do not curl your lashes, straight lashes will work better for the application
4. Plan to set aside an hour and a half for your appointment. This is a very relaxing process and many clients fall asleep during the procedure. You will be amazed when you wake up with gorgeous looking lashes!
5. If you have allergies to certain adhesives, acrylic nails, or you have had a reaction from past lash extensions please let me know ahead of time.
6. Prices are subject to tax.
To fully understand how long your extensions will last you have to know the natural life cycle of eyelashes. All hair on your body grows in phases. There are three phases to be exact: Growth, Resting and Shedding. Eyelashes are some of the most fleeting hairs on your body. In only 60 to 90 days a lashes lifecycle has fully come and gone. This is a mere blink of the eye when compared to other hairs on your head. Before a natural lash even falls out at maturity a new lash has already started its growing phase in its place. This process is nonstop, with people shedding anywhere from 1 to 5 eyelashes each day. This means that you could lose 1 to 5 eyelash extensions per day. This is perfectly normal and to be expected with or without lash extensions. When the natural lash grows to maturity at the end of its growing cycle the eyelash extension attached to it will fall out as well. The speed of lash shedding is also impacted by the age and health of the individual. You will lose more eyelashes as you get older or if you have certain health issues and it will also take longer to grow back.
When an eyelash extension falls out it is more noticeable than a natural lash shedding because they are darker and longer than natural eyelashes. As a certified lash extension professional, I do my best to identify the lashes that are in the middle of their lifetime cycle. This is to maximize the life of the eyelash extensions and to not harm the young lashes that are just starting either cycle.
Due to the natural shedding of eyelashes on a daily basis, regular ‘refills’ or ‘touch-ups’ are required to keep your lash extensions looking their best. To maintain the full, healthy appearance of freshly installed lash extensions it is recommended getting a touch up every 2 to 4 weeks (time depending on your natural lash cycle). If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full application. Other factors such as exposure to steam, humidity or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. Touch-ups can take anywhere from 25 to 40minutes, depending on how long you wait between appointments. During your touch-up appointment, I will remove make-up residue, remove grown-out extensions, prime your lashes and apply extensions to new lash growth. A good indicator of when to be in for a fill is when your extensions are 50% gone.
